A platform for Latiné choreographers, dance makersand movement artists that helps create connections and remove some of the segregation and isolation that can often foster competition more than cooperation in Latiné dance communities. Plans include: performances, mentorship, collaborations, a research and writing component, and video documentation projects.
The project was initiated by Dr. Jane Gabriels who connected the work and research of Beatrice Capote (Associate Professor, Contemporary Dance, Indiana University) with Alicia Díaz (Associate Professor of Dance, University of Richmond, VA) and invited them to co-lead the project.
In 2022-23, the project is lead by Beverly Lopez/REDi Dance Company in collaboration with visual artist/designer Leenda Bonilla and supported via collaborations with Cynthia Paniagua and Rokafella.
Pepatián provides back up and support for wherever this collective wishes to travel with their ideas, strategies, and dreams.
